YQA: Getting Started with Superfoods

You don’t need to give up your favorite meals or reinvent the way you eat. Including superfoods in your diet can be as simple as sprinkling or stirring ingredients into the dishes you already love.

We hear you: the world of superfoods can feel exciting—and overwhelming! Which ones are right for you? How do you incorporate them into your life without making food prep feel like a chore? In this post, we’ll dig into two of your top questions on where and how to get started.

1. How do I fit superfoods into my lifestyle?

One of the biggest barriers to eating better (or eating super!) is the perception that it takes a ton of extra time or effort. But here’s the good news: you don’t need to overhaul your whole routine. The trick is integration and simplicity.

First of all, start where you are. You don’t need to give up your favorite meals or reinvent the way you eat. Including superfoods in your diet can be as simple as sprinkling or stirring ingredients into the dishes you already love. For example:

By layering rather than replacing, you’ll gradually build a superfood habit without extra effort, making eating super an easy habit to uphold.

Want more super with minimal effort? Here are some of our favorite ways to get an additional layer of superfood nutrition into an everyday diet.

  • Wellness shots: Add a fruit powder (like Pomegranate, Goji, or Maqui Powder) to 1-2 ounces of water, add a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar, and finish with a dash of maple syrup if desired for a quick and easy wellness shot.
  • Stir-ins: Keep a pre-mixed jar of your favorite superfood powders on the counter for easy scoop-and-stir into coffee, tea, or smoothies. We love a blend of Cacao Powder with Superfood+ Adaptogen Blend in coffee, or a hydrating Pomegranate Powder and Chia Seeds mix for water or juice.
  • Infusions: Make a hydrating infusion with chia seeds in water steeped with a whole, dried super-berries, like Goji Berries, Mulberries, or Goldenberries.
  • Snack boosters: Mix Chia Seeds, Cacao Nibs, or Hemp Seeds into energy balls or bars that you make in bulk and store in the fridge for grab-and-go snacking.

2. Which superfoods are best for me?

There’s no one-size-fits-all answer here. The “best” superfoods for you depend on your personal health, lifestyle, and any specific needs or sensitivities you might have. But the first step is to identify what your top health goals are, which will in turn dictate which superfoods could take priority. Below are some common needs states and the superfoods that we recommend:

Energy & Vitality

Adaptogenic superfoods, like our Maca Powder or Superfood+ Adaptogen Blend, help our bodies combat the effects of everyday stress, strain, wear and tear. When taken consistently over time, these powerful plant foods support sustained energy, naturally.

Natural caffeine can be found in some superfoods, like Cacao Powder (20mg per tablespoon) and Matcha Powder (32mg per ½ teaspoon). Unlike some sources of caffeine, they also contain compounds that can help balance their energizing qualities with grounded, calm focus.

Immune Health

It’s no secret that our immune systems benefit from vitamin C, and camu camu is a Peruvian super-berry that provides this nutrient in abundance! Each teaspoon of our Camu Powder provides over 200% of the DV for vitamin C, along with plentiful antioxidants that also play a part in supporting immune health. Other immune-boosting, antioxidant-rich superfoods include our aptly named Superfood+ Immunity Blend and the deeply purple Maqui Powder.

Cleansing & Detox

Dark leafy greens are notoriously cleansing but can be hard to incorporate into an everyday diet. Happily, these potent superfoods also come in powdered form! Our Superfood+ Greens Blend combines kale, moringa, and wheatgrass juice powders for an alkalizing and detoxifying blend that makes getting your daily greens simple.

Our other favorite superfoods for cleansing are our Chia Seeds, Hemp Seeds, and Hemp Powder. These superfoods contain loads of fiber, minerals, and amino acids—nutrients needed by our body’s detox system.

Inflammation & Pain

Chronic pain, the uncomfortable side effect of chronic inflammation, can stem from a variety of causes and often demands an equally diverse approach to healing, including healthful nutrition. Foods high in antioxidants are known to help combat inflammation and may help reduce pain. Turmeric Powder is a top superfood for this role, thanks to its noted bioactive compound, curcumin. Other antioxidant superstars include Pomegranate Powder, Acai Powder, and Superfood+ Berry Blend.

Final Thoughts

Fitting superfoods into your life doesn’t have to be complicated. Start by weaving them into meals you already love or adopting one quick prep (like a morning shot). And when it comes to choosing which superfoods, let your goals guide you—not the hype.
