This fun twist on Romanesco sauce is somewhere between the traditionally earthy, smoky sauce and barbecue sauce made from a mix of fried red onions, toasted cashews and warm spices.
Ingredients
-
½ cup Navitas Organics Cacao Butter Wafers, melted
½ red onion, sliced
¼ cup cashews
½ tsp. garam masala
½ tsp. cumin
½ tsp. salt
¼ cup coconut aminos
1 Tbsp. apple cider vinegar
1 Tbsp. date syrup or preferred sweetener, optional
Directions
Heat a small sauce pot over medium heat with the cacao butter wafers.
Once hot, add in the onion and cashews. Fry, stirring occasionally for 5 minutes, or until the onions and cashews are golden and toasty.
- Pour everything into a blender, add in the seasonings, aminos, vinegar and sweetener, if using. Blend until smooth.
Serve sauce with grilled meat-free tenders, brush on roasted cauliflower or use it to dip vegetables!
