Cacao Butter Romanesco Sauce Recipe

This fun twist on Romanesco sauce is somewhere between the traditionally earthy, smoky sauce and barbecue sauce made from a mix of fried red onions, toasted cashews and warm spices.

INGREDIENTS

½ cup Navitas Organics Cacao Butter, melted

½ Red Onion, sliced

¼ cup Navitas Organics Cashew Nuts

½ tsp Garam Masala

½ tsp Cumin

½ tsp Salt

¼ cup Coconut Aminos

1 Tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar

1 Tbsp Date Syrup (or preferred sweetener, optional)

DIRECTIONS

Heat a small sauce pot over medium heat with the Cacao Butter.
Once hot, add in the onion and Cashews. Fry, stirring occasionally for 5 minutes, or until the onions and Cashews are golden and toasty.
Pour everything into a blender, add in the seasonings, aminos, vinegar and sweetener, if using. Blend until smooth.
Serve sauce with grilled meats, brush on ribs, use it to dip roasted vegetables or pour over pulled pork!
