Superfruit Applesauce Recipe
There’s nothing like fresh applesauce! You can make this simple one out of any variety of apples—or a combination of several. Boosted with superfoods‚ this recipe comes alive with flavor and nutrition‚ making the nostalgic snack more irresistible than ever.
INGREDIENTS8 apples, any variety 2 cups water 2 Tbsp. lemon juice 1 Tbsp. Navitas Organics Goji Powder 1 tsp. Navitas Organics Pomegranate Powder 1 tsp. Navitas Organics Maqui Powder 1 tsp. Navitas Organics Acai Powder |
DIRECTIONSPeel, core and quarter the apples. Add to a large pot along with water and lemon juice. Bring the liquid to a boil, reduce heat to moderate and cover. Cook while covered for 15 minutes, or until apples fall apart easily when mashed with a fork. Uncover and cook for 3-5 minutes longer, stirring occasionally, until most of the liquid at the bottom has evaporated. Transfer the apples and any remaining liquid to a blender and blend until smooth. Refrigerate until chilled, about 90 minutes. In a small bowl, mix together goji powder, pomegranate powder, maqui powder and acai powder. Once combined, mix into chilled applesauce. Applesauce will last refrigerated for about one week. You may also divide the applesauce into half-pint mason jars and freeze them to keep for several months until ready to use. Makes 1 quart
