Loaded burger with superfood special sauce

Special Sauce Recipe

Anyone who’s had a great burger knows that half the secret is in the tangy creamy “special sauce” that accompanies it. Try this special sauce the next time you warm up the grill (or just make a sandwich)‚ and sneak in a few extra superfoods!

INGREDIENTS 

½ Cup Navitas Organics Cashews
2 Tbsp Navitas Organics Hemp Seeds
1¼ Cup Coconut Water
¼ Cup dark Beer*
1 Tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar
2 Tbsp Veganaise (egg-free mayonnaise)
2 Tbsp Ketchup
3 Tbsp Nutritional Yeast
½ tsp Onion Powder
½ Tbsp miso paste
½ tsp Sea Salt
¼ Cup Navitas Organics Chia Seeds
2 Tbsp minced Shallot
¼ Cup Relish**

DIRECTIONS

In a blender, combine the cashews, hemp seeds, coconut water and dark beer together. Blend until very smooth and creamy. Add the vinegar, Veganaise, ketchup, nutritional yeast, onion powder, miso paste and sea salt, and blend once more. Transfer the sauce to a quart-sized mason jar or medium-sized bowl. Add the chia seeds, shallot, and relish, and mix well. Cover and refrigerate for a minimum of 30 minutes. Stir once more before serving.

Sauce may be made a day ahead of time, and will last, refrigerated, up to one week.

*Beer adds to the depth of flavor in this sauce. For those avoiding alcohol, unflavored kombucha may be substituted.

**Look for all-natural varieties that have no added dyes/chemicals.
