Traditional matcha preparation dates back to early China, more than 900 years ago. It was then adopted by the Japanese in the 11th century and has been a part of Japanese culture ever since, at the heart of the traditional Japanese tea ceremony. It was historically consumed prior to meditation, as its unique compounds support mental alertness alongside a grounding energy.
Instructions: Add 1 teaspoon matcha powder to 2.5 oz. hot water. Whisk the matcha using a bamboo whisk or other utensil until a rich foam forms on top. Add milk or sweetener if desired.
