For Us

“THE FORs” are the basis for our business, our work, and our principles.

At Navitas, we understand that agriculture is the basis for a healthy society. Farmers have provided us with sustenance and nutrition for thousands of years. When it comes to addressing the climate crisis, promoting gender equality, and supporting rural economies, agriculture’s impact is unparalleled. We also know that the goal of agriculture is not just production, but the preservation of culture and the nurturing and support of our communities and environment. Here at Navitas Organics, we have identified our role in empowering healthy behaviors and driving positive change. We are inspired to ignite a paradigm shift in the way farmers are perceived, thus helping to transform agriculture back to its traditional roots and conserving the future health of people and planet.

1

For the Planet

We’re using our business as a beacon for positive change and demonstrating that corporate social responsibility and regenerative organic agriculture can heal our planet and our society.

Certified Organic Certified Organic

Since 2017 we’ve purchased 10 million pounds of certified organic superfoods.

Acres in Regenerative Ag Acres in Regenerative Ag

Through our sourcing, we support 80,000+ acres of land farmed using traditional, regenerative organic methods by smallholder farms and coops. Major regions include Mexico, Canada, Peru, Colombia, Brazil, India, China, Philippines and Turkey.

Carbon Sequestration Carbon Sequestration

Northeastern University and The Organic Center recently published a new study showing soils from organic farms have 26% more potential for long-term carbon storage than soils from conventional farms, along with 13% more soil organic matter.

Scope 1 & 2 Emissions Scope 1 & 2 Emissions

We’re measuring our scope 1 & 2 emissions and setting science-based targets for the future reduction of our emissions.

Solar Solar

In 2016 Navitas Organics HQ installed a 75 kW solar panel system that has offset 250,000 kWh, equivalent to not burning 73,000 pounds of coal.

Greening Elements Greening Elements

In an effort to reduce our carbon footprint, we have installed solar panels, LED lightbulbs, low flow toilets, outdoor xeriscaping and low VOC paints and carpets at our home office. We consciously source as environmentally-friendly supplies as possible, like recycled paper products, and green cleaning products. We commit to composting and recycling.

Packaging Packaging

We recognize the need to source as environmentally-friendly packaging as possible. We are moving all packaging to post consumer resin (PCR), until a viable compostable option is available. Current limitations will allow for 29% PCR, and we are working to get to 60% by 2021. Stay tuned for further developments in our packaging innovation!

2

For the Farmer

We create economic opportunities for smallholder organic farmers that strengthen global economies by guaranteeing a fair and equitable wage while providing healthy working conditions for farmers across the supply chain.

Fairtrade Certification Fairtrade Certification

Since 2017 we’ve contributed over $370,000 in Fairtrade premiums through Fairtrade America. These premiums pay for social, environmental and economic investments back into the farming communities we source from.

Smallholder Farmers Smallholder Farmers

We work with 5,000+ farmers and are committed to partnering with smallholder farms, as we believe it strengthens both local economies and communities in regions where we do business. There are many benefits to both consumer and farmer to smallholder sourcing, for more see the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization factsheet.

For You

We are your trusted source for quality organic plant-based superfoods and advocate the health benefits of a plant-focused diet to prevent and reverse disease.

Third Party Testing Third Party Testing

We run the gauntlet of rigorous third-party certifications and testing processes before and after production because we want to ensure top notch quality, efficacy and safety in our foods.

Science Based Evidence Science Based Evidence

The United Nations and many other leading research organizations recognize that a plant-focused lifestyle not only benefits personal health but also is one of the greatest efforts we can make to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and address our environmental crisis. We recommend bookmarking this repository of studies showing the benefits of a plant-based diet if you'd like to dig in more.

Education Education

We know not everyone is familiar with all of the superfoods we sell - many of these foods have ancient traditions from across the globe that are not native to the U.S. That's why we employ a team of product and nutrition experts to help our customers, retailers and other partners learn about our products, choose the rights ones for them and even get tips on how to use them. Visit our Help Center for more.

For Us

From our founders to each employee, we’re dedicated to the premise that success isn’t just about profits but rather a healthy balance of hard work, play, and being passionate and true to ourselves.

Employee Engagement Employee Engagement

Navitas is a dynamic family business and we foster a playful, fun and inclusive culture. Some of the ways we keep the healthy vibes going onsite are with product celebration weeks, opportunities for self-care, lunch-and-learns, friendly competitions and a fully-stocked gourmet kitchen.

Wellness program Wellness program

We don’t just talk the talk, we walk it. Our robust health and wellness program includes an on-site fitness facility with daily strength training and yoga classes, weekly guided meditations and a generous monthly product stipend. And unlike other company gyms, ours gets plenty of use! We also provide unlimited PTO and flexible work schedules because we believe that a work-life balance is crucial for everyone.

Volunteer hours Volunteer hours

Collectively, we volunteer an average of one month per year in our local communities planting gardens and preparing healthy, organic meals for those in need. Employees are encouraged to take time to volunteer during work hours, and still be paid for their work day.
